Service for Sight

Service for Sight supports the four schools founded by Delta Gammas for the visually impaired and other North American organizations that promote sight preservation and provide assistance to children and adults who are blind or visually impaired. This philanthropy has been at the heart of the Delta Gamma mission since 1936 when a member who was blind, Ruth Billow, Eta-Akron, petitioned members to adopt “Aid to the Blind” as our official philanthropy.

Service for Sight has been at the heart of Delta Gamma’s philanthropic mission since 1936. The Delta Gamma Foundation has given over $2,800,000 in Service for Sight grants to organizations and schools that share the Foundation’s mission, which is to promote sight preservation and assistance to children and adults who are blind or visually impaired.

Sisters for Soldiers

We, as a Fraternity, thank the men and women of our Armed Forces who serve and have served our country. In recognition of their sacrifice and the hardships experienced by them, their families, and loved ones, Delta Gamma wants to give back.

Our sisters are able to submit the troops of friends and family who are serving, and we bring in donations and make cards to send care packages to the troops.

This is a simple way for us to give back to those who have given us so much.

Community Involvement

We work specifically with two retirement homes in the Tuscaloosa community. Throughout the year, we spend time with the residents to play games, do crafts, and get to know them.

Once a year we do Delta Glamma, which is when some of our members join the residents for a spa day!

Also, we do Adopt-a-Grandparent, which is when DGs have the opportunity to be paired with a resident throughout the semester. This provides both our members and the residents a chance to spend time with and get to know one another and to form a bond.

We also work with the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind (AIDB). At AIDB, we host playtime with the children. Also, we deliver them lunch, cards, and other projects that we make together.
